Reynolds Reaches Maximum Campaign Contributions
Winston-Salem, NC - With a month left in the public campaign financing fundraising period, Suzanne Reynolds has raised the maximum amount allowable to candidates participating in publicly funded judicial campaigns. Reynolds is a candidate for the North Carolina Supreme Court.
To qualify for public funding, a candidate for the Supreme Court must receive at least 350 contributions of between $10 and $500 from registered North Carolina voters, and must raise between a minimum of $40,050 and a maximum of $80,100. Having raised the maximum, Reynolds will receive an additional $233,625 from the public campaign fund.
"In the past, I have resisted the urge to run. The necessity of raising exorbitant amounts of money in races that were heavily partisan kept me away," Reynolds said. "With the advent of public financing and non-partisan races, the process became, for me, more compatible with the principles of fairness and impartiality that should characterize the selection of judges. I am deeply grateful for the support of those who contributed to my campaign, and who make it possible for me to participate in a publicly financed campaign."
Reynolds' contributions have come in amounts ranging from $10 to $500 from voters across the state. She has received nearly 450 qualifying contributions; well in excess of the required 350.
